Bunker Water Tank Replacement
The new Bunker Water Tank was officially connected to the Tahoe City water system in November 2018. This significant water infrastructure project replaced a 0.5 million gallon redwood tank built in 1960, with a new 1.2 million gallon steel tank. The new tank increases storage capacity; corrects seismic deficiencies; improves inefficiencies such as leaks and aging pumps, and will provide robust fire protection infrastructure in emergency situations. This infrastructure improvement project was funded primarily with water rate revenue, along with some federal fire protection funds.
